My biggest challenge finding reliable candidates.
How is one supposed to grow a business especially a home service business like mine (Handyman Service) when we have to rely on others to perform up to a certain standard especially for my reputation. It's like being in stuck in a rock and a hard place? Any advice fellow business owners...

I completely understand. This can be a challenge for us as a service business. However you have to remember a few points that I will outline here as a guide.
Refine your Onboarding & Hiring Process:
Be sure to check references: Look for individuals who have a good work history of not less than (what you feel is good enough) in years. Ask questions that will lead into their reliability, communication and what type of work ethic they have. Do you have systems and processes? Sometimes training can be an issue even for your type of business especially if they want to do things their way because they don't agree with the way you do things. Clearly and openly define your expectations. Remember we should inspect what we expect(This your business not theirs). Because you are in the service business, can they interact with customers appropriately? Do they have good communication skills? Are they a team player and flexible with time? Can they except corrective criticism? Are they a problem solver? Build your culture around your core values this way you'll know if your attracting the right talent. Another good idea is to follow up after each job. Use automations to do the follow-ups.

Thank you for the input, you got me thinking I'm gonna build a program for new candidates to follow and see how well I can accomplish bringing that program to life and running it towards my goal. Automation for feedback. I like that idea as well.π€
