I would say getting involved and sponsoring community events such as little league, pups basketball teams, as well as town parades. Some cost between $25 - 125 for entry and sponsorship. We gained a lot of route density and community trust that way.

Community visibility and trust are HUGE. 
Was it easy to reach out to events and organizations and build these relationships?

    Yes very easy. The town calendar and town websites usually offers information about sponsoring sports teams and events. Local schools offer information as well.
