The First Impression: What Makes Someone Choose Your Business?
Before a customer ever hires you, they’re already judging your business through your website, reviews, social media, phone calls, and communication. What’s one thing you believe helps turn a potential customer into a paying customer?4Views0likes0CommentsLooking for genuine feedback
I've been building a hiring tool for home service businesses, and I'd love some honest feedback. The idea is simple. Instead of paying job boards every time you need to hire, what if you owned your own hiring pipeline? You enter your job title, pay, schedule, location, and a few screening questions. In seconds, the software creates a branded social media hiring post with a QR code. You can share that QR code anywhere—Facebook groups, Instagram, your storefront, a vehicle magnet, posters, hiring cards, or anywhere potential employees might see it. When someone scans the QR code, they answer your custom screening questions, enter their availability, and apply directly to your job. As soon as they apply, you receive a text notification. The hiring post is completely free to create and download. You only pay if you find an applicant you actually want to contact. After that, it's $99/month to keep your hiring page active and unlock interview scheduling, digital onboarding, document collection, applicant management, employee tracking, and the ability to save great candidates for future openings instead of starting from scratch every time you're hiring. My goal is to help small businesses rely less on job boards and build a hiring system they actually own. Would you pay $99 per month if this consistently helped you find quality employees? What am I missing? I'd really appreciate honest feedback, even if you think it's a terrible idea.32Views1like2CommentsAsk-an-Expert: Want advice on Job Posts, Interviews, Training, or Retention...send them!

I'm a part of breakthrough academy and they really recommend hiring slow, so being really picky about who you hire. With that, comes creating a lot of barriers that the candidate essentially needs to "fight through" to get to that next stage and ultimately be hired. I do some of these things now but I had one thing pop up on a few interviews and I was wondering if ya'll think I'm being too hard headed when it comes to this. Keep in mind these candidates applied where they had to submit pictures of their work - then they filled out a lengthy survey about job skills and abilities. The first interview, the first question is "Did you look in to our company at all?" - most the time I'm being told no. LOL For me that's crazy but it also makes me want to just hang up the phone. Why should I care about you if you don't care about the thing you're going to commit most of your day toward? My job postings are pretty long and descriptive but would you automatically disqualify someone why hasn't even been to your website?58Views1like1CommentDo You Train Your Team to Think or Just Work?
Every Monday, we hold a short training session with our team. We train on communication. leadership. & mindset. The reason being most tradespeople aren’t struggling because they can’t do the work. They’re struggling because they were never taught how to: Speak with clarity Handle conflict Lead a crew Represent the business professionally These tend to be the issues I see bottling up, either from our exit interviews or customer feed back or when things are misunderstood. Thats why I'm curious: Do you train soft skills with your crew?371Views2likes5CommentsHow do you determine when your team can take PTO when you have a large team?
Current policy: Submit PTO 6-8 weeks in advance for approval. Those with seniority get first pick for their PTO. Use your 2 weeks PTO for the year, or you lose it. My personal values are very important to me as a business owner. Being a person of faith I care deeply about people.
