3 numbers every owner should check in their old quotes
Most of us push hard the first week. Quote out, a call, a text, an email. We give it everything we've got. But what happens to the quotes after that first push stops? Most shops have a pile of estimates sitting untouched from 30 to 180 days ago. Here are 3 numbers worth pulling from your old quote data: Total dollars with no next step. Add up every estimate where the homeowner never gave a yes or a no. Seeing it as one number changes how you look at your pipeline. "Said no" vs "went quiet." Separate the firm no's from the ones that simply went quiet. You can't revive a firm no, but the quiet ones are still open. Which ones first. Not all old quotes are equal. Age, job type and ticket size tell you which ones are worth a follow-up first. On Jobber's own Masters of Home Service podcast, SendJim CEO Daniel Dixon shared how texting 270 old leads closed $100K in jobs. A lot of next month's work is already sitting in your quote list. How does your shop handle quotes after that first week?5 Follow-Up Texts for Quotes That Went Quiet (Copy and Paste)
When a homeowner goes quiet after a quote, it's rarely a flat no. Often they got busy, needed to talk it over with a spouse, or were waiting on payday. Here are 5 texts you can use today to restart the conversation. 1. 3–5 days after the quote "Hi [Name], it's [Your name] from [Company]. Any questions on the [job] quote? Happy to walk you through it or get it on the schedule. Reply STOP to opt out." 2. Around two weeks later "Hi [Name], it's [Your name] from [Company]. We have a couple of openings next week. Want me to hold one for the [job]? Reply STOP to opt out." 3. When price or budget is the hesitation "Hi [Name], it's [Your name] from [Company]. If the upfront cost is what's holding you back on the [job], we have a couple of options that turn it into monthly payments. Want me to text the numbers? Reply STOP to opt out." 4. Older quotes (60–180 days) "Hi [Name], it's [Your name] from [Company]. Life gets busy, so no pressure. Still thinking about the [job]? I'm happy to update the quote if anything's changed. Reply STOP to opt out." 5. The easy-out text "Hi [Name], it's [Your name] from [Company]. Did you decide on the [job]? A quick yes, not yet, or no all help me plan my schedule. Reply STOP to opt out." Quick tips: Always name the specific job so they remember you instantly. Ask one easy question they can answer in a few words. Send from a real person's number, not a no-reply number. Which one would you add or change for your trade?“Our name is getting mentioned without us even having to show up.” 🤝

Have you lost a job recently to a lower bid, even though you were confident your price was fair for the scope? Same story I hear a lot from contractors we work with. Homeowners rarely have a real way to compare the quality of two bids. They can only compare the number. So when price is the only variable they can see, price is what they use to decide. The fix isn't to always be the cheapest bid. It's giving the homeowner something else to compare, and that something else usually comes down to a few concrete things they can actually see and weigh against price: How clearly you explain what's actually included in the price and what isn't? Whether you walk them through your process instead of just handing over a total Proof that other people had a good experience with you (e.g., reviews, before and afters, past jobs in the neighborhood) What happens if something goes wrong after the job is done? None of these replace a fair price. But when a homeowner can see the difference between two contractors, price stops being the only thing they have to go on. What's worked for you when you weren't the lowest number on the page? How much Quote Follow Up is Too Much?
"Can you turn off my automations, your system is blowing me up?" I've gotten that a lot the last few months since I've set my system up. We basically text and email at day 1,2,3, 6,8,12,16,20,25,29 after the quote is sent unless they give us a "no". I feel like it can go two ways. The people that are going to accept but haven't gotten around to it are annoyed by it. The people that aren't going to accept usually don't say anything. I do get a "no" about day 12 though. The others, no response either way. What kind of nurture sequence are you guys setting up and how successful is it?How do you create a brand that customers remember? ✨

How are you qualifying new clients?
This is something we’ve struggled with for a few years. How and when to really qualify clients before you do the estimate. Right now our flow is typically people will call and speak to my Admin and she will book them in for a video call with myself. They can also book and schedule this online through the AI receptionist or online booking. Now because we’re just doing a video call we’re not driving all over. I don’t really have a whole lot of skin in the game. I’m wondering, should I not qualify them too hard? These are the qualifying questions that we’ve been trying to ask. 1. When would you like to get this project done? 2. Do you have a budget for this project? 3. Have you got other estimates that we need to be aware of? Who is hard-core when you do this? If you didn’t like the responses you were getting would you literally stop the video call and say sorry we can’t give you an estimate for this? I would love to hear how hard-core others are doing this? Thanks for your time.
