Wildlife Control Pros — How Are You Structuring Trap Jobs & Follow-Ups?

I run a wildlife trapping company in Southern California, and I’m curious how others in the industry are structuring their services inside Jobber.

Right now, we separate our jobs into:

Initial inspection & trap setup

Follow-up trap service visits

Per-animal removal charges

This has helped us keep pricing clear and avoid charging customers for animals that haven’t been caught yet.

For those doing wildlife or similar service work:

How are you structuring your pricing and follow-ups?

Are you bundling visits or charging per service?

Always looking to improve systems and learn from others in the field.

  • If there are any Wildlife Control Operators, please discuss how you use Jobber for your operations. Thanks.

  • Hey Trapperjohn I do some wildlife but mostly work with another small company that I am happy to share work with. We usually charge once the work had been completed. We have an upfront cost for removal, an upfront cost for exclusion and also for trapping.

If I am just send the invoice, I don't have to make any service appointments but if I did I would make sure it is a reoccurring service, change the frequency to every day for one week then add or subtract days if the animal has be caught or removed. It's good to have reminders in your schedule just in case.

  • Thank you Julie, sorry for the delayed response.

John, before I go into what works for OUR organization, please know not EVERYTHING we do will work for your's. Depending on regulations, client base, company financial needs, and state specific trap check laws, your options may not include what we do. That being said, we are a flat rate provider. We do not charge trip fees, service fees, or per animal fees unless a VERY rare occasion or canine and beaver work.

We use "requests" for inspection appointments. We invoice prior to the appointment a non refundable "inspection booking fee" to ensure the client is invested in our visit and not just a tire kicker/price checker.

After the inspection we create a quote for the work. For trapping work, most of the time our quotes are built off of premade templates within Jobber that have the following: trapping fee, non ambulatory offspring locating/removal fee (marked optional), ladder charge, exclusion/repair charge, clean up/remediation charge, credit for inspection booking fee. 50% of the total is due to approve quotes over $1,000. Quotes under $1,000 are 100% due up front.

Once approved, we create up to three "jobs" off of that approved quote. We break up the quote by work type: 1.) Removal 2.) Repair 3.) Remediation

Those jobs each often have multiple "visits" from the team member specialized in that specific work. Every time a visit is completed, the team member informs our administrative team if a follow up is need and what the next steps are in the service notes of each visit.

For jobs over $1,000, the remaining 50% of the total balance is due when the exclusion work is started.

Once all "jobs" are completed, we will "close" the jobs and use the AI generated review and follow up system in jobber to receive feedback from the client as to their experience with our team.

If you have further questions, feel free to comment below. I am going to try and be more intentional and visits this forum at least once weekly so delays are not too extended.
