Feature Request: Work Queue or Task Queue

We have a growing concern with being able to track steps / tasks and items that need attention, pre-quote, specifically.  As a home services company who regularly works with external trades to complete certain jobs, there is a fair amount of back-and-forth to be able to get to a place where we can officially quote a client.

For example, we may find something that requires us to consult with an expert in the field of masonry for a repair, so we would take the information, photos, measurements, specifications to them to obtain an estimate from them, which will ultimately be included as part of our official quote.  There may even be a need for another walkthrough which is fine and for now, we just simply schedule another task or request to track, schedule, and complete this work.  But for the background back-and-forth that needs appropriate tracking and in many cases passes across many hands in our office to complete, we need a way to track these tasks and next steps.

It would be extremely helpful to either have the ability to add additional steps and perhaps assignments directly related to a particular request (prior to it being converted to a quote), or even through those various stages / lifecycle.

I think of an IT Ticketing system as an example, just a basic workflow tracking system where you can assign a ticket and pass it back and forth until resolved.  This type of functionality or something similar would be a major game changer for us and likely many others.

Thank you for considering.

  • Hey Don! Thanks for sharing this feature request.
Just wanted to let you know that I passed this along to our Product Team.
Curious to see if there are any other members in our community who is facing something similar and if they have a workaround they can share : )

That is a spot-on feature request, and you described the exact pain point that almost every growing trade business runs into when managing multi-step estimators or sub-contractor pricing!

When you're dealing with external trades, specialized site visits, or getting secondary estimates for things like masonry or structural work, the pre-quote phase is practically a project in itself. Without a dedicated task queue or sub-task assignment inside Jobber, keeping track of those moving parts usually means juggling internal notes, spreadsheets, or manual reminders so nothing falls through the cracks.

Having a true internal ticketing or task-queue system tied directly to Requests and Quotes—where team members can assign sub-tasks, set internal due dates, and track progress before a formal quote ever hits the client's inbox—would be a massive game-changer for office workflows and multi-trade contractors.

A few great ways community members handle this gap in the meantime include using internal Jobber Notes with @mentions to alert specific team members, setting internal Follow-up Reminders directly on the Request, or using Jobber's Tags (like "Pending Sub Estimate") to filter requests in the pipeline until all the numbers are in.

Thank you for laying this out so clearly—feedback like this directly helps the product team see how contractors manage real-world, complex quoting workflows!
