Starting on my own

Hi everyone my name is Tyler Paszek owner of Paszek Construction I mainly focus on residential projects and renovations. I'm from la crosse wi and have decided to go out on my own at the ripe age of 20 without much capital and without much help. I've watched the concern for quality go down significantly in my area since I started swinging a hammer and want to make a difference in my work. I've dedicated myself to my profession because I believe every client deserves the highest quality regardless of the profit at the end, the goal is always to make money but a strong lasting relationship with customers will always bring more work. if anyone has any advice for a young man who's hungry and dedicated I would love to hear it!!

    Welcome, Tyler!

The instinct to prioritize relationships over quick profit is one of the best long-term plays you can make, especially early on. It sounds like you're on a solid track.

Don't be afraid to ask questions here. There are many experienced pros who have been exactly where you are. I'd also highly recommend applying for Jobber Grants if you haven't already!

  • The future is bright for you man, keep that focus and strive to be the best. Quality work is pretty hard to come by these days and people do notice it when it is set higher than others.

Hunger and dedication are two very important qualities when starting your own company. Pay attention to what people are telling you and make it work for you when you can. As a young man starting out on your own I would really focus on continually learning. The only downside I could see from going on your own so young is that you won't have a mentor to guide you and learn new skills, not like you would while working for someone else. Letting someone else make the mistakes and you just sit back and watch and learn. Now you are the one making the mistakes and learning from experience rather than by observation. Don't let that discourage you though, learning on your own is truly the best way to learn, but the consequences can be tough to deal with.

I wish you nothing but the best young man, keep you head and quality high and you'll be just fine.
