These may be some good places to find good used items:
- Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, local auctions. Or other contractors with extra tools sitting unused in a garage or storage unit.
- contractors who are retiring or changing industries. Buy the whole lot.
- Local equipment rental companies that are rotating out older inventory. They could be selling well-maintained equipment
- Network with Trade associations or local business groups

Even for renting tools local companies have been cheaper than like homedepot. So for sure buying old tools from them is cheaper.

One thing we did when we needed a bigger equipment is we did a lease to own. Basically paid in installments. This way we did not have to pay like 7k all at once.
