What would you charge?

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a landscaping job coming up and I’m looking for some advice on pricing it fairly. The job includes:

Clearing out the backyard and the side of the house (removing overgrowth, debris, smaller trees, etc.)
Hauling away all the waste and debris
Cleaning out the gutters

I already have images and a short video of the areas ready to share for context.

I’m in the Lima, Ohio area and trying to figure out a fair total charge for this job. Based on the scope, how would you suggest I price it? Should I go hourly, flat rate, or a mix? Any tips on factoring in hauling and gutter work would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

Great question! I'm no landscaper, but here's what I came up with utilizing our AI model.

Leveraging AI, I was able to take all of your photos, 1 video and description of work and create an estimate within minutes with a clear detailed scope of work. Don't be afraid to think outside of the box or reach out with ANY questions!!!!

    Scope of Work (Preliminary Assumptions):

    • Extensive brush and small tree clearing around the home, garage, and rear yard.
    • Cutting back overgrown vegetation against structures and fencing.
    • Removal of weeds, volunteer trees, and saplings around the perimeter.
    • General clean-up and haul-away of green waste and any debris.

    Estimated Labor & Cost Breakdown:

    • Labor Hours: Approx. 18–22 hours
(2-person crew over 1.5 days for full clearing and trimming)
    • Labor Cost @ $85/hr:
      $85 x 20 hrs = $1,700
    • 50% Labor Mark-up:
      $1,700 x 0.50 = $850
    • Total Labor (with mark-up):
      $2,550
    • Rough Material Costs:
      • Chainsaw fuel/oil, loppers, rake replacements, contractor bags = $75
    • Disposal Cost:
      • Hauling truckload(s) of green waste = $200

    Total Rough Budget Estimate:

$2,825 (non-binding and based on current visual assumptions)

    Customer-Supplied Finish Materials (Not Included):

    • Not applicable for this job, as no finish materials are relevant (no painting, fixtures, etc.)
