I have a lot that seems to be a norm, no one wants to work and if they do don’t have any real skills, customers wanting to change things after project starts then doesn’t want to pay more. Yet expects to get what they want.. slows down work. And ends up costing more money. Change orders have definitely been an issue as clients start searching ideas and then wants to make changes and they think it can be done easily and doesn’t costs much.
clients also think they can just call you when they’re ready to move forward once they receive the quote and want you to start immediately and they think they can pay 1 -3 days before getting started.. so I let them know a time frame we are at and also let them know if they don’t schedule ahead and others schedule they will be moved back. Even with this a lot of them still do it.. having proper systems in place that can be done out in the field saves time, energy and money. Don’t have to come back to the office to do something that could have been on job sites.
Im also putting processes in place so that myself, workers, and client have the same idea and understanding on how things will look and what materials are being used.
as I can see everything in my head of finished product but translating to homeowners and workers can often pose some challenges, since everyone can gain different perspectives.
