We have developed an excel sheet where we have all the sizes of homes and the different pricing (regular clean, deep clean, moving clean). We quote a range of hours as we want to factor in the dirt level. We do ask the customer about the dirt level but lets be honest what is clean to me is different for someone else. :)
That makes sense — the “level of dirtiness” seems like the hardest part to standardize.
When your estimate turns out wrong, what usually causes the biggest problem: losing money, running behind schedule, or having to explain a price change to the customer?

When we need more time we reach out to the customer to let them know we need more time. At times this is right at the start of the job. We also ask the customer to send pictures before hand. So it isn't often we need more time.
