Congrats on taking the leap.
My biggest advice would be to focus as much on marketing and relationships as you do on the actual trim work.
You probably do, but if you don't, be sure to follow guys like CarpentryByMar and some of the other finish carpentry heavy-hitters on Instagram.
I'd also make sure you're posting consistently yourself. Take photos, post reels, show your process, show finished work. A lot of people underestimate how many opportunities come from simply having a portfolio that's easy to find.
And definitely network with GCs on Instagram. Follow them, engage with their content, comment when they post projects, and don't be afraid to send a quick message if you see they're doing the type of work you specialize in.
A lot of contractors already have a trim guy, but crews get busy, schedules overlap, projects come up unexpectedly. If you've got good work on your profile and you've stayed top of mind, you're much more likely to get that call when they need someone.
Good luck with it. Finish carpentry is one of those trades where quality work really does stand out.
