Business Advice

I am extremely skilled in the trade that my business operates, I am a owner/operator of a pest control company. I have been working in the industry for 13 years as a technician, senior technician, supervisor, manager and a trainer. I know the industry inside and out but when I decided to start my own company I realized fast there are things about business I know nothing about. Taxes, accounting, bookkeeping...those types of things.

I am wondering if anyone has had these same experiences, where they knew there would be challenges and learning but were shocked to see the reality of it? Have you hired someone as an advisor? Have you watched YouTube videos? Studied all the material you could find? What turns a good worker in the industry into a good owner of a business in that field?

  • PestFreeCanada - OMG so true!!! Doing the books can be stressful and CRA can be scary.  I have also been in business for 16 years now and I have to admit I am good at the bookkeeping and then I find stuff coded totally wrong LOL.  I have an accountant that does all my financial statements and tax returns at the end of the year.  This year I have hired a fractional CFO.  It has been a game changer.  I see that you are also in Canada, let me know if you would be interested in being connected.  Best of luck with the numbers!

This topic is one of my most favorite to discuss...

I love already how your mind is processing this next journey you are in and so proud.
I think we all can resonate with this, because we are all passionate about the work we do and recognize that our work has value.

But we all find out some way shape or form, that we don't know, what we don't know. Then the realization of, we may be the biggest bottleneck in our own business starts to creep in.

Thats where the journey of self development begins. So thank you for sharing that.

The last three years I have been traveling the US and working with Patrick Bet David, as our business advisor and investor.

What I have learned from our travels, is that the need to constantly recreate ourselves. As Ceo, owners and leaders.
There's no room for "I've been doing this for 30 years" mentality.

Yet our industry, blue collar prides ourselves with that phrase, as a badge of honor.

So yes, I proudly love looking for help, I proudly love the idea of learning from others and its allowing and led us to grow our operation to the stage it is today.

I would love to connect more if there's anything we can do or assist with.

    Thank you again
