I can’t relate to the solo journey because I had a helper from day one. Looking back, I’m grateful I did because it forced me to build a business instead of just creating a job for myself.
My advice would be not to wait until you’re drowning. Working until midnight every night is already your answer. If you have the demand but you’re the bottleneck, your next investment is capacity.
The first hire probably won’t be perfect (I certainly didn’t get every hire right) but every hiring mistake taught me something that made the next process better. Today we have an incredible team because we kept refining our hiring, training, and onboarding instead of expecting to find the “perfect” person on the first try.
You’re at the point where your business is asking you to become a leader instead of just a technician. That’s a hard transition, but it’s where the real growth begins.
