What Are You NOT Taking Into 2027?

We’re in that weird Q4 stretch where I’m looking at everything we’ve added this year and trying to decide what actually deserves to come with us into 2027.

We’ve grown our residential base, expanded commercial, added new roles, invested in equipment, tightened some internal policies, and tested new offers.

And I keep coming back to this... Just because something worked doesn’t automatically mean it deserves more resources next year.

Some things create revenue but also create headaches.
Some things look exciting but pull leadership attention away from the core business.
Some things are profitable but hard to staff.
Some things are easy to sell but not actually scalable.

So as we plan 2027, I’m trying to be more intentional about what we double down on, what we maintain, and what we stop doing altogether.

What’s one initiative, service, client type, marketing channel, or internal process you’re seriously considering NOT bringing into 2027 even if it technically “worked”?

And what are you using to make that decision: profit, team capacity, owner involvement, stress level, scalability, etc?

I want to leave behind my fear of quoting on big jobs. I know now that I can handle them and they are worth the time. I have a great relationship with a lot of other professionals now and I have proven that I can manage all the trades around each other, and myself. I can shoot for the big ticket jobs and make them work very well. I am not bringing my fear of failure on big jobs into 2027.
