I agree that many new business owners try to do too many things at once. Another common mistake is ignoring systems and processes early on. Even a simple workflow for customer inquiries, scheduling, and follow-ups can save a lot of time as the business grows. Focusing on one service, improving it, and building a strong reputation first usually creates a much better foundation than chasing every new opportunity.

I see a lot of people with business ADD. They don't focus on their one thing and make it good. They get a "good idea" then don't flesh it out entirely. I do the same thing but I'm learning to real it in.
I hear so many people talk about "scaling" but don't actually know what that means. When I hear scaling, I hear you can essentially just spend more marketing dollars to lever your business 1x, 2x or more in a given year. But a lot of people use that term to just mean growing your business or just getting more business which I don't think is the same thing. Scaling is more of a parabolic thing which is hard to do when you are bootstrapping your business from scratch. What most people NEED to do is just grow the business. You can't scale a turd and revenue is for vanity, profit is for sanity.
