I use Quickbooks for my landscaping businesses and I've found that their free budgeting tools can be super helpful. That said, I'd love to help you set up your budget though - since I do have extensive landscaping budget experience.
For 2024: I set an overall budget for each of my category groups within QB. Then, during my CEO Friday sesh, I'd review the previous month, month and year to date, to see how they stacked up against my budget. By staying focused on keeping our expenses in check, we not only met but exceeded our forecasted goals.
Budget Goals (% of Revenue)
Payroll 60%
General & Admin 10%
Long Term Savings 10%
Profit Transfers 5%
Equipment Repairs 5%
Materials and Subs 10%
If you're looking for guidance or insight on creating a budget that works for your business, I'd be happy to help!
