How do you get your first lawn care customers with little to no startup money?

How should I go about going and getting a customer base wiht little to no start up cash in a Lawncare landscaping business any advice on starting from the literal ground up.

  • That’s exactly how I started! A huge recommendation I can make is go talk to your local real estate offices! Tell them that you offer lawn care services and if they need mowing etc done before a showing to give you a call. They have the tendency to happily share contact info of people who show up and stay true to the work they promised to do.
Other than that, as cheesy as it might sound, find a local community board, at the grocery store, or post office, or wherever people post flyers and put up a sign with the work you’re offering and your rates, you’d be shocked at how many clients I’ve gotten from just those two tactics.
From there it’s word of mouth and social networking. Try and get in with a larger contractor who doesn’t necessarily offer lawn care but they need a grass guy who’ll go in once their work is complete and finish up the work.

I started out with free on the curb or very cheap yard sale equipment. Worked out of the bed of a pickup truck for a year before getting my first trailer. That first Lego may not seem like a lot but. Its the starting foundation to build off of. Stay competitive but dont cut yourself or others everyone has to eat.. Let your quality of work do the talking. 1 person tells 5. And let it grow from there.
