Paid Time Off

How much paid time off/vacation/sick time do you give employees? Would love to get others feedback!

  • We have two weeks paid vacation by law (we are in Alberta, Canada).  We also give an extra 4 weeks of unpaid vacation that they can use for anything like days off or appointments.  We find that flexibility is a great draw to our team members.

Here in the UK we gave our employees 28 days paid holiday which I think is the statuary minimum

At Christmas they would take unpaid leave sometimes to get a few extra days off

Trying to find a balance between being helpful and not loosing a fortune is the key

We found that 28 days seemed fine for most people

We do two weeks of PTO which is earned after 90 days. We give the two weeks and if the employee doesn't use it they lose it and it doesn't roll over to the next year. We also require PTO to be submitted 6-8 weeks in advance so we can plan for upcoming jobs in their absence.
