When to start hiring employees instead of staying solo?

Been working the business for little less than 2 years.

Should we keep our pace or risk hiring employees. Has anyone been stuck in the position before?

Daniel, PestFreeCanada , recently made the jump and hired his first apprentice! Daniel, could you share what made you make the executive decision to hire?

+ I also recommend any questions you might have about hiring your first employees in our upcoming Ask an Expert session! Rich Camacho from BlueRecruit is taking any questions on hiring, job postings, and building a team. Worth dropping your question over there if hiring is part of your growth/investment plan!

I was having this exact same dilemma in my brain about 2 months ago. I did decide to hire someone as a helper/labourer/apprentice. I set some goals for myself before I made this decision though. I wanted to have 3 months of their wages in the bank, I wanted to know for a fact that I could take on more work with someone helping, and it had to be the right person. I didn't hire someone fulltime, I hired a young kid who was eager to work and learn. It keeps my labour costs down and gives me some low risk experience with an employee. I must say, I think this was one of the smartest decisions I have made for the business. He turned out amazingly. He enjoys the industry, the work, the experience and seeing a new industry too.

I would highly recommend starting with a labourer first. Someone you don't have to have strong reliance on and let them know off the bat this could be a bad decision on your part, and may not need you after a short period of time.

Do you feel like you're at capacity and you're turning away business or you can do more alone? I'm of the mindset that you keep grinding until the wheels fall off lol at a certain point the value of your time is much higher doing revenue generating activities (networking, following up on leads, implementing new marketing initiatives in your business) while you have people servicing your customers.
