How has giving back or getting involved in your local community impacted your business or your perspective as a business owner?
Hi everyone,
One thing I’ve learned since starting Mowing With A Purpose Landscaping is that success isn’t measured only by revenue or the number of properties you service. For me, it’s about the impact you leave on the people around you.
This year has been full of moments that reminded me why I started this business.
We had the opportunity to provide free Father’s Day lawn services for four deserving dads, simply as a way to give back to men who spend so much of their lives serving their families.
I’ve also had the privilege of supporting our local community by maintaining the grounds at an assisted living home, a preschool, and a middle school at affordable rates. Seeing residents enjoy a cleaner outdoor space, watching children smile through the classroom windows as we work, and hearing parents express their appreciation has been incredibly rewarding.
After the recent storms, our team stepped in wherever we could to help neighbors clean up and get their properties back in shape. Sometimes serving your community means showing up when people need an extra hand the most.
One of the greatest blessings has been involving my own children and nephews in the business. They aren’t just watching me mow lawns—they’re learning about responsibility, customer service, planning, professionalism, discipline, and the importance of keeping your word.
Some of my favorite moments happen when curious kids ask questions about the equipment. If it’s safe to do so, I’ll let them sit on the zero-turn mower or help with a leaf blower under supervision. Hopefully those small experiences plant a seed that hard work can be rewarding and that owning a business is something they can aspire to one day.
My customers have noticed that community involvement isn’t just something I talk about—it’s something I try to live out. I’ve found that when you genuinely serve people, relationships naturally grow, and those relationships often become the foundation of your business.
I’d love to hear from others in this community.
How has giving back or getting involved in your local community impacted your business or your perspective as a business owner?
I truly believe we don’t just build businesses—we help build stronger communities.
