My now husband has a roofing company that I started to help him with years before were married in Hawaii! He was very grateful but I didn't agree with a lot of his sloppy office procedures, as he had done this on his own for many years. Where he was very good at what he did in the field, we didn't see eye to eye on the back end procedures so we clashed a bit but I had to cave to his ways somewhat because it had been working for him for 20 years. When I purchased my dumpster business last year in my name, but we are married at this time, things changed a bit. I integrated a CRM system to keep track of everything and has now finally seen the benefits of keeping digital tracking and processing. Him being 64 years old he didn't see a need for anything different, so I had to keep that in mind but this was MY business now and we were going to do it a more professional way. There were a lot of arguments in the beginning but he has now opened his eyes to a new way of running a small business. We now only run the dumpster business and we are successful in doing so.
