Anyone using Send Jim or Dope Direct Mail strategies successfully?

I currently spend $1400/ month doing direct mail campaigns through Send JIm. Basically we use most of our credits mailing neighbors after we finish a job. I've seen zero return on this spend. I don't think we've received a single job and it's kind of a high price for something like that. I'm not completely shutting the door on this but is anyone else on here using one of these successfully? Please share your strategies!

  • I'm using Send Jim as of a few months ago and I too have seen zero return on the spend. I was doing what you were doing -- sending to neighbors nearby jobs we just completed.

Just recently I decided I should shift gears and use the spend for something else. Instead of cold marketing for neighbors, I've decided I'm going to write hand-written cards to past clients that we worked with a year ago. I'm just starting this week so I'll keep you posted to let you know how it goes!

I also started sending out cookies, nuts or snacks to clients who have recently had a baby or something like that. I think these sweet touches will pay off more than the cold marketing, but that's just my hypothesis.

  • And just for clarification -- I'm doing the hand-written cards feature through SendJim. I just sent my first round of cards to clients we worked with last May and I included a $10 starbucks card too. Not sure if that's overkill or a waste of money, but we'll see!

  • We saw the same issue until we shifted from generic “neighbor” mailers to highly targeted, pre-need campaigns with strong offers and proper tracking—happy to help you set up a version that actually converts.

What do you mean by pre-need campaigns? So curious to hear what's working for you!

  • Direct marketing has not worked for me.  I really thought as a home service business it would.  We have also tried valpak, USPS direct mail and a couple local things. readysetorg i really hope your Starbucks plan works.  Please let me know.  :)
