We did this, and for us it was absolutely worth the investment.
We rebranded in 2024 and completely overhauled our website last year. The website alone was close to $20k, which definitely wasn’t a small investment, but I stopped looking at our website as just something that needed to “look professional.” I wanted us positioned as an authority in our region.
Our web designer is still actively building it out. We meet monthly and he walks me through analytics, SEO scores, competitive analysis, backlinks being added, what pages are gaining traction, and where we have opportunities to improve. It’s an ongoing strategy, not “here’s your new website, good luck.”
I think THAT is what I’d look for when hiring an agency.
A pretty website is nice. I want to know what it’s actually doing for my business.
Some of our largest commercial opportunities have come from people finding us on Google, seeing our reviews, going to our website, and deciding we looked like the company they could trust with a large project.
So yes, $20k for a website sounds insane to some people 😂 But if being positioned as one of the authorities in your market brings you the right clients for years afterward, the ROI looks very different (also, if you need me to connect you, I'd be more than happy to refer you to our web designer!)
