Did you connect your personal following to your business page, or keep them separate?

Starting my business social from scratch, and I'm wrestling with a real question: I've got a personal following, but my business page is at zero.

Did you tap your personal network to give the business a running start, or keep the two completely separate and build clean? I can see it both ways, leverage the people who already know and trust you, or keep a clear line between personal and brand.

For those who've done it, what worked, and what would you do differently? And if you're building too, follow along, IG @themonroviaco, always happy to follow back.

  • Personally, I'd leverage the personal network initially.

When you're starting from zero, the people who already know and trust you are often your first supporters, customers, and referral sources. That doesn't mean mixing every aspect of your personal life with your business; it just means letting your network know what you're building.

Over time, the business page should develop its own audience, but there's nothing wrong with using existing trust to get those first few wins and build momentum.

Thank you, this is really helpful. I agree with the points you made, especially letting your network know what you're building without mixing in every part of your personal life. I think I'll connect the two at least initially and let the business page grow its own audience over time. Appreciate you sharing this.

  • I think it depends on what your product or service is and what the content of your personal page is. If it's remotely beneficial to connect then do not hesitate. But whatever you do receive mentorship before making a decision in haste. That's my two cents lol. Take care

Appreciate this, that's a fair point. The fit between the personal page and the service definitely matters. And you're speaking my language on mentorship, I've actually been looking for a social media manager or someone who can guide me through this stage rather than figuring it all out solo. If you or anyone here has someone they'd recommend, I'm all ears. Thanks for the two cents, they're worth more than that. Take care!
