Would you work with someone who obviously sent the job to a lot of contractors?

So I had this person that's had me quote out 3 different, very complex jobs, then be surprised with the quote. In each situation I've gone out to look at the job, given my professional opinion, detailed quote and she's passes on the work. They keep reaching out for quotes. Now her co worker is reaching out for quotes. Do you either:

a) Entertain the work because it's an at bat

b) Do nothing

c) tell her she needs to pay for me to come out because she keeps asking for quotes and taking up time

  • A lot of people are concerned about price.  I usually don't win this game LOL.  I still quote it.

  • Definitely wouldn’t waste my time.  Sounds like they just need quotes for insurance purposes and never intended on hiring you (or anyone)

  • People will want the cheapest offer with the highest quality. Having worked in automotive, the consumer always tries to get the cheapest rate. Sometimes they get lucky, more often then not, problems arise, the cheap laborer didn't get the right parts, missing tools, or lacks the knowledge. People that shop for quotes are not worth the effort

  • Do you quote jobs based on a job overview? Like a GC sending an overview of the job with good details and pictures to a few contractors to see availability, cost, and fit?
