Free way to find newly opened businesses to pitch for commercial cleaning

Quick disclosure: I don't run a cleaning company. I build data tools, and I've been testing a way to find commercial cleaning prospects without ads.

Many cities publish every new business license. Chicago's is free on its open data site, under "Business Licenses." I filtered it to new licenses from the last two weeks:

- 211 new licenses

- 97 looked like a fixed location that could use cleaning, after I removed things like flea market stalls, one-off events, and street vendors

- 15 of those were offices, childcare, or fitness, which I'd guess are the better fits for recurring contracts

A few real examples:

- Spline Data Co, software office on N Wabash

- Tiny Giants Early Learning Center, childcare on N California

- Gracie Barra Chicago West Loop, martial arts on S Halsted

- Fortuna Tax Services, tax office on S Ashland

What I noticed:

- A license doesn't always mean a new location. It can be a move or a new owner.

- Some are shared or virtual offices. Two companies on my list had the same suite.

- In a multi-tenant building, the landlord may handle cleaning, so check before pitching.

- Chicago's data was about 6 days behind when I checked.

Two questions for those of you doing commercial work:

1. Would a list like this actually help you get walkthroughs, or are these businesses too small or too new?

2. What city are you in? I'm happy to check whether yours publishes this data and pull a free list for you.

I'm trying to figure out whether this is useful enough to turn into a small paid service, so honest feedback helps, including "this wouldn't work."
