How long does your spring restart take?

For those of you running recurring mowing routes in Jobber: how do you handle the fall shutdown and the spring restart?

- How long does it take you, and who does it?

- What goes wrong (missed clients, wrong prices, late visits piling up)?

- Do you raise prices at the same time, and how do you tell clients?

- Do you switch between weekly and every-two-weeks service during the season?

Full disclosure: I'm a software developer looking at whether a tool could make this faster. I'd like to understand the real workflow before building anything, so any detail helps.

  • So it takes a long time in jobber for me. Either i don't know what im doing or its clunky. I came from yardbook (i say that a lot but for a cheap and free pending plan it just worked....though clunky and not as refined in certain aspects that i do need for certain services)
anyways, yardbook i didn't even have to do it. We marked it as recurring, then added a end this on x date, and then reopen and resume on y date. it was greate as my customers are on a we just keep coming back unless we have discussed otherwise.
for prices, again yardbook in the services option has a much better matrix for pricing. it isn't that you cant' do it in jobber but it doesnt work. Example mowing i had my matrix ( i still go back to yardbook as its free and use the matrix i built for pricing) i charged based on sq foot of the property. after recording and analysing the data, i had groups x-y sq foot as they were common. charge y amount per sq foot starting at a certain price. put in customers sq foot and everything associated with that sq foot was priced out so when we did mowing, it spit out the price immiedatly, treatments same thing. mulch bed size size thing. it is great
For raising prices, you can go and change ea person individually or do a flat % or $ amount across the board. and then it was set for all future visit.
I tell customers with a letter with the new price, i send out a quote for additional services, that basically says if your interested let me know, if not we will see you on this date to begin spring clean up and begin service.
i don't switch between weekly and bi weekly, but that is more due to my area. i have very very few (2) that actually need bi weekly and can get away with that. every one else, its just to tall and requires extra work, and the lawns suffer from it, and then we get the complaints.
