Jobber Job Costing?

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if you've ever seen this before. The two screenshots are from the same job, yet for some reason the job costing isn't picking up that I have sent a larger invoice?

This actually pings a second question in my brain. When you get a gross margin alert for job costing, when is Jobber actually looking at that job? Is it midway through the job or at the end of the job when you've actually invoiced everything? Because I'm getting job costing alerts, but we haven't even sent out our final invoice, so the jobs are looking like they're at a low gross margin, but they're actually not.

Thanks!

  • Hey Byron, Jobber calculates job costing revenue based on the line item values set on the job itself, rather than what is currently sitting on an invoice. If the job's original line items haven't been updated to reflect the full scope, Jobber will still pull the lower number for its revenue calculation.

Additionally, since you're using Jobcostpilot, its gross margin alerts operate in real time as labor, materials, and expenses are logged against the job. It evaluates profitability continuously throughout the project's lifecycle, so logging significant upfront costs before the final job total or invoice is recognized will trigger temporary low-margin alerts.
