I just started my business this month after years as a real estate agent and seeing a big hole that needed to be filled in that industry. A reliable, trustworthy handyman who can show up to a property quickly and give a clean, line-by-line quote for the items that need fixed or replaced and, if requested, have the issues repaired in a timely manner so to not jeopardize the transaction. As a real estate agent, I realized how difficult it was to find someone willing to do this and have the quote returned quickly.
Now onto the goals.
Q1 Goals: -Stay consistent with marketing, -Track every job, -Track time on site, -Track drive time, -Track Admin time, -track hourly effective rate. These are important goals because I've never done them. This will build the foundation of where I am and where I should set my goals. That being said, I do have some goals in mind already. 1. 9am-5pm M-F only (I'm willing to make some exceptions for good clients in an emergency). While we all need to work, losing quality time with my family and friends shouldn't happen. 2. Tighten my service radius. I'm doing smaller jobs that are too far away because I'm a new business and am hungry for work. The last job I did I had an effective labor rate of $44/hour before expenses. Simply not enough for before expenses. This this goal is 10 jobs within 20 minutes of my house (office). Of those 10 jobs, I'd like to obtain a 50% review rate. As for a Q1 dollar amount, I'm shooting for $9k-$11k.
Q2 Goals: 1. Revenue Target: $24k-$30k. 2. 30+ total reviews. 3. 4 total realtor relationships (that are producing at least 2 jobs per month). 5. Be one week booked out (other than the time I've set aside for realtor quote jobs).
Q3 Goals: 1. Revenue Target: $30k-$36k. 2. Increase minimum service call if demand supports it. 3. Maintain 50%+ net margin. 4. 60+ total reviews. 5. 30% of jobs from repeat/referrals. 6. Be consistently booked 1-2 weeks out.
Q4 Goals: 1. Revenue Target: $30k-$40k. 2. 100+ Total Reviews. 3. 40% of jobs from repeat/referrals. 4. Realtors sending me steady small repair work. 5. Be in a place where I need to decide if I'm going to stay a 1 person business or add part-time help for 2027 scale.
All of that aside, here is a TLDR simplified:
-I want to be averaging $7,500 per month by June 30.
-Work 4-5 job days per week (no more)
-by the end of the year, be booked out consistently for 1-2 weeks
