We’ve tested a few things while getting started, and here’s what has worked best for us so far:
1. Vehicle magnets / rolling billboard
This has honestly been one of the better investments. Every drive becomes marketing, especially around neighborhoods, storage facilities, apartment complexes, and contractor-heavy areas.
2. Flyers + targeted canvassing
Instead of random distribution, we focus on areas where the need is more likely. Door hangers, flyers, and simply getting your name in front of the right people consistently matters. Don’t be afraid of rejection — consistency matters more than comfort.
3. B2B relationships have been stronger than residential marketing early on
Real estate agents, storage facilities, painters, landscapers, contractors, property managers, apartment communities, and turnover crews can become repeat referral sources. One good relationship can turn into ongoing work.
4. Be careful with certain services when starting out
For us, liquids and hazardous-type situations can get expensive and complicated quickly. Early on, we chose to keep our scope tighter and grow into more specialized work over time.
Honestly, word of mouth has been one of the strongest drivers so far. Do solid work, communicate professionally, and people remember and refer you.
Hope this helps, and best of luck getting things rolling.
