Consistent work comes from relationships, reputation, and always keeping the next few jobs lined up before the current one ends. Most successful contractors are quoting jobs while still working on active ones. Repeat clients and referrals are huge too. If people trust your work and communication, they keep calling back and sending others your way. Slow periods still happen, but the smart ones prepare for them instead of panicking when the schedule opens up. Construction is basically part craftsmanship, part scheduling chess, and part babysitting adult humans with budgets.
