I love this idea, and it has crossed my mind recently. It came to me when I "donated" my sunglasses to the Atlantic Ocean on vacation and was looking to buy a new pair! This is a great topic.
I didn't even think to use it as a training video! I love that. Sometimes I really have to think on my feet and solve problems that don't always have a clear-cut solution. I like that you could have a folder or database of similar work, with unconventional ways of how it was completed.
I thought it could be useful also to send to a client in Jobber after the work was done; to really showcase how much work goes into something they may never see. Maybe not every job, but the ones where there is work in a hard to reach/see area.
I ran this past my trainee, and he laughed and said, "You would have to delete the audio with all the talking we do!"
That’s an interesting perspective.
What stands out to me is that those videos could become more than just training content. Over time, they could create a portfolio of real-world work, problem-solving, and completed projects.
For someone looking to hire, that kind of documentation could provide a much better picture of a technician’s skills and experience than a traditional resume ever could.
I could see value in training, customer transparency, and even helping skilled professionals showcase what they’re capable of.
