Starting Small,Thinking Long -Term

Starting a residential cleaning business has been a real mix of ups and downs - exciting to build something of my own, but challenging when it comes to getting those first few clients. I'm focused on staying consistent, learning as I go, and building structure instead of just figuring it out day by day. The goal is long - term stability, even when the start seems slow.

THe strategy I followed when I first started was ... unfortunately... be pretty inexpensive. If it's just you, it's a little easier but this way you can get reviews quickly. Only thing to be careful of is to still vet your clients. Have a process in place so you don't take a job you shouldn't. Once you get a certain amount a reviews, give yourself a raise! Another suggestion I have is use the lead platforms like thumbtack where you are paying for specific leads so you can get direct contact with interested parties. Don't invest in things like SEO or google pay for click where it's hard to track the return on revenue. One last thing before i get off my soap box. Do all the free stuff - starting a google my business page, make social media posts, make more social media posts, go on next door and reach out to people, look in to using AI to help scrape for leads. You just have to get money in the door and it will be a grind but focus on getting reviews early on and you will be ok.

The slow start is SO real. The fact that you're focused on building structure instead of just grinding through it puts you ahead of where most cleaning businesses are at this stage. 🙌 Rooting for you!
