What challenge have you overcome that made you proud of your journey?

My name is Tavon Partlow Sr., MBA, founder of Re-Entry, Recovery & Beyond LLC.

For many years, my life was filled with challenges, setbacks, incarceration, homelessness, and obstacles that could have easily defined my future. Instead, I chose to rebuild my life through education, personal development, entrepreneurship, and service to others.

Today, I am proud to say that I have earned

my MBA, published my first book, launched my company, built a website, started a podcast, and am working to create programs that help returning citizens, individuals in recovery, youth, and underserved communities find hope and opportunity.

One lesson I've learned is that success isn't about where you start. It's about making a decision every day to keep moving forward.

My business, Re-Entry, Recovery & Beyond LLC, focuses on:

  • Reentry support
    • Recovery support
    • Youth mentoring
    • Public speaking
    • Entrepreneurship education
    • Community partnerships

I'm sharing my story because I know there are others building businesses while overcoming tremendous obstacles. I'd love to hear from fellow entrepreneurs:

What challenge have you overcome that made you proud of your journey?

Thank you for allowing me to share my story.

  • One challenge I'm especially proud of overcoming was learning how to keep moving forward despite uncertainty and rejection. Building a business from the ground up isn't easy. There are moments when progress feels slow, opportunities don't work out, and you question whether you're on the right path.

What I'm most proud of is that I didn't quit. Instead, I used those challenges as motivation to learn, adapt, and keep improving. Every setback taught me something valuable about business, resilience, and myself. Over time, those lessons helped me grow stronger, more confident, and more focused on my goals.

Looking back, I realize the journey has been about more than building a business—it's been about building discipline, patience, and belief in myself. Knowing that I've continued to push forward through challenges makes me proud of how far I've come and excited for what's ahead.

Thank you for your question! We are based in Baltimore, Maryland, and currently serve individuals throughout Maryland while expanding our reach through virtual programs, speaking engagements, and community partnerships. Our goal is to build a national network of support for those impacted by incarceration, recovery, mental health challenges, and life transitions. I’d love to connect and learn more about your community as well.
