What's your biggest struggle running your business?

My biggest struggle at times can be cash flow and not collecting fast enough, even with Jobber, because people will wait to pay.

Jobber helps make things easier to track and easier for people to pay BUT once the job is done I get clients who take a long time to pay a time.

What's your current business struggle?

  • We are struggling with not quoting enough for first time cleans.   Our team needs to reach out and request more time and this puts a bit of stress on our system.  We started tracking where and how much time our team requests and how do the jobs overall go.  Are the clients satisfied or if there is an issue that we need to resolve.   We have also made a change and increased the quotes with some time.  When I started my business 17 years ago and I cleaned I was pretty fast.   I notice now as the new generations come up they need a bit more time.

You're already doing the hard part, which is identifying the actual data points that matter: time requests, job outcomes, client satisfaction. Most operators just adjust quotes by gut and never close the loop.

The next unlock is connecting those three data points so patterns surface automatically instead of you having to hunt for them. For example, if certain job types or neighborhoods consistently trigger time requests, that should be rewriting your default quote for that category, not just adding buffer across the board.

Blanket quote increases help short term. Category-level adjustments based on actual job history is where the margin protection really lives.

Once you have enough data on which variables predict time overruns, you can build a quote modifier that does the adjustment before the job is ever scheduled, so your team stops being in the middle of that conversation entirely
