We’re looking for an accountant to handle monthly bookkeeping and file both state and federal taxes for our HVAC business. We have three owners/employees and generate around $1 million in annual revenue.
What is the going monthly rate for these services? Any recommendations or insights on what to expect in terms of pricing would be greatly appreciated.

I would say it is based on your area. Shop around for an accountant that can fulfill your needs at a price you feel is reasonable for what you are getting and a budget you can afford. I prefer a local accountant myself. Usually multi owner companies cost more as far as tax filings compared to a single owner. All depends on your filing requirements.
I will say a quality accountant that is very responsive to answering your questions and willingness to teach you to better understand your finances far out weighs someone who just keeps your books and files your taxes. All goes back to knowing and understanding your numbers.
Just like in any home services, if you go with the cheapest option you are going to get the cheapest quality. Speaking from experience.
