Hello!

I'm not 100% sure how to use this platform yet, but I thought we'd introduce ourselves. We are Dillon and Sarah, husband and wife business owners. Dillon brings the vision, and Sarah locks in the steps. We own a lawn care business in Idaho and are expanding into offering landscaping services. We'd love to hear from other business owners! What do you do and where are you located?

  • Hi Dillon and Sarah. Welcome to the community. My name is Silvia, and I am the owner of The Blooming Rose Landscaping in Lexington, Kentucky.

We offer lawn care, mulching, flower bed installation and maintenance, hardscaping, tree and hedge trimming, power washing, and garden design.

I love that you two work together. I built my landscaping business with my family too, and there is something special about growing something alongside the people you love.

The jump from lawn care into landscaping is a big one, but it sounds like you have the right foundation. I wish you both a lot of success with this next step.

  • Welcome to the community, Dillon and Sarah! It's great to have you both here.

That "vision plus execution" dynamic is exactly how the best husband-and-wife teams crush it in this industry. Having one person focused on the big picture while the other locks down the systems and steps is a major superpower, especially when you're managing the leap from routine lawn maintenance into full landscaping projects.

To answer your question: I operate a solo exterior cleaning and pressure washing business based out of northeast Indiana.

Expanding into landscaping is a massive milestone, but it definitely changes the logistics (longer project timelines, bigger material ordering, and different cash flow rhythms compared to standard lawn care maintenance).

Since you two are tackling this transition together, are you planning to focus primarily on softscapes (plantings, sod, mulch) to start, or are you jumping straight into hardscaping like patios and retaining walls?
