  • I would say to contact your accountant or hire a payroll company.  I do it inhouse through Quickbooks.

How long have you been using Quickbooks and do you like it? Also, how many employees are you paying through it? We are looking to hire 1-2 people next year and we are trying to figure out payroll.

Quick books works.for us also. We did 1099 and in house empolyees

  • We use Gusto. There are 4 of us on payroll/w2, which includes the owners wages. It's nice because it handles all the compliance, reporting, un-employment rates, holds back and pays state and federal taxes, sends w2s to the employees etc. It integrates with Jobber if you keep time records there, and quickbooks online. It also allowed us to set up company benefits, even though there are only 2 employees that needed insurance. It's a bit of work upfront, but after the initial set up it's on auto pilot!
Or you could try asking your CPA if they will handle the payroll.
    Hope that helps!

  • I have been using it for at least 10 years.  My payroll is anywhere between 22-25 depending on staff I have.  I love it - super easy. If you learn these easily I would suggest you do it.  It takes me about an hour each payroll.   For you probably 10 minutes.

  • This is a very interesting topics one ofy businesses was existing for three years and i just didn't know how to set it up im going to try quickbooks

  • I used Gusto in the beginning and found myself loving Paychex way better. They handle all of your taxes as well as other benefits you and your employees would want and need. It’s very straightforward and they are very helpful when confused or need a walk through.

  • I’ve had success with Gusto. They are reasonably priced and handle  the payroll taxes, FICA, FUTA, state unemployment insurance and local taxes. One less thing for me to worry about!

  • If you do not utilize QuickBooks, or something like that, you could contact Paychex or ADP and have them run payroll for you.  It is not super expensive, and it may save you some headaches.

  • Gusto has been great for us! Easy to use, intuitive and simple. We can set up deductions for child support plus plug it into our worker's comp to help reduce balloon payments later. Here is a referral link if you want to try it out:
