Deposit for multi visit job

Customer has paid up front for the mowing season. I am thinking in terms of scaling and someone other than me doing the billing.

How do i record the deposit and all future visits (they are invoiced per visit) when invoiced show that they have been pre paid. Im not sure if im explaining this properly. I understand when a quote is made and a deposit is made the the next invoice tracksthat... but not sure how to do that from this point. Especially when someone else gets involved or too many customers. They wont "just know" thats its been paid if that makes sense.

  • I had the EXACT same issue. I called Jobber Support and got it solved in 10 mins.

Or if you can walk through those steps that is the way to do it!

    Hey BlueSkies!

If the client has paid for the whole mowing season, and they do not require any additional invoices, and you want to ensure they are not accidentally invoiced, I would do a few things.

The first on the job > edit > invoicing frequency > dropdown > select "as needed - no reminders" > update job.

This will ensure that when the visits are complete and/or the job is closed for the season, the job will not go into the requires invoicing status. Then, just to be extra cautious that this job is not invoiced by accident, I would add visible notes on the job, in the internal notes section and/or the job instructions. The reason I suggest the job instructions is that they are the first thing an employee will see when looking at the job.

I didn't think about that. I guess the reason i was looking at "applying" a prepayment to the invoice, is more of a tracking thing. Im probably overthingking it, but my goal this year is to do a much better job at tracking. And i want to make sure that the prepayment actaully pays for the year and im not undercharing myself. I offer discounts for the the prepayment so just looking at different options.
