How to add shop supplies to an invoice as a percentage of the total of the invoice?

Pretty standard invoicing question...  trying to add shop supplies to invoicing to cover all the small items not worth itemizing... How do you set that up as a line item in Jobber?

  • To add shop supplies as a percentage in Jobber, you can: (1) Create a “Shop Supplies” item in Products & Services with markup (e.g. 5%), then add it to invoices; (2) Use the discount tool with a negative value (e.g. -5%) as a surcharge and rename it “Shop Supplies”; or (3) Manually add a line item and calculate 5% of the subtotal. Best practice: Clearly show the charge in estimates to avoid client confusion.

i have actually tried that ..and it wont accept a negative discount so you have to calculate it manually every time..

    Hi EESi

Thanks for the question! Rather than adding a separate “Shop Supplies” line item to every invoice, you might find it easier to use the markup feature in your Products and Services list.

You can add a markup percentage to your existing items to help cover overhead costs like shop supplies and other small materials that aren’t worth itemizing individually. This way, those costs are automatically built into your pricing without needing to add an extra line to every invoice.

Can you tell me a bit more about what you’re trying to achieve? I’m curious why adding a markup to your Products and Services wouldn’t accomplish what you’re looking for.
