Searching for customers

I would like to see if there is a better way to search for customers in both the mobile app and the desktop version by using the town they are located in and if not, suggest that to Jobber.

We own a tree service company and we don't always immediately schedule "requests" because our schedule can be a moving target.  It is much easier and efficient for us to schedule our request appointments and jobs by grouping customers that are in the same area, but this has been challenging for me to do this on Jobber.  Other than looking at the map on the schedule part and clicking on each individual one, there is no good way to search for them.  For example, I would like to be able to go to the requests section and in the search box, type the name of the town and have any service address with that town, come up.  It would be great if any key word you used with that request, would show up when it's typed in the search box.

Another request I have is making the uncompleted requests and jobs a little easier to see on the whole within Jobber.  In our shop, we have a white board with a list of requests and jobs that need to be done and they are organized by the service location, which gives a really good visualization and helps with scheduling. I wish there was something similar and a little more user friendly on Jobber, as we are not always there in front of the board and looking at the map on the schedule portion of Jobber, can be a little messy.

Thank you and hopefully this made sense!

  • You are making perfect sense. For a tree service company, clustering jobs by area isn't just a preference—it’s how you save your sanity and hundreds of dollars in fuel and windshield time. Trying to stare down a messy map or squint at a physical whiteboard when you're out in the field is a major headache.

If you want a clean workaround right now without overcomplicating things, here is the fastest way to bridge the gap between your shop's whiteboard and the digital world:

    The Quick Spreadsheet Trick

Since standard search bars don't always filter addresses cleanly, the fastest move is to pull your raw data into a spreadsheet (Excel or Google Sheets) once a week.

    • Export your open requests or leads list.
    • Ensure the City/Town and Status columns are visible.
    • Sort the spreadsheet by the City column.

This instantly groups every open request by town, giving you a perfect checklist to schedule an entire neighborhood all at once before you ever start routing.

    The Digital Whiteboard Alternative

If you want something visual that you can see on your phone while away from the shop, look into a simple, free kanban tool like Trello.

    • You can set up lists named after the specific towns you service (e.g., "North Side," "South Town," "Out of Town").
    • Drop your unscheduled leads into those columns.
    • It completely mimics your physical whiteboard, syncs instantly to your phone, and completely eliminates the messy map view.

Keeping it simple keeps you efficient and saves that windshield time!
