How do you stay present with your family during busy seasons of work?

What’s one habit or routine that helps you stay present with your family even during the busiest seasons of work?

  • I like to make sure I have a work/life balance. Put work in its proper place. One piece of thinking I have is that most tasks are not urgent for weekends or evenings. I ask, "Can this wait until the morning or during work hours?" The challenge is we have our devices by us at all times. I have found that the "Do not Disturb" feature is quite handy when it is time for relaxation or recreation.

  • For my family and me, the most enjoyable time I have with my daughter is in the morning. And the most enjoyable time I have with my old dog is the evening. I always make sure my first appointment of the day doesn't interfere with my morning routine with my daughter and I am not going out in the evenings when I spend time with my dog.

  • I mentioned this in other posts, and I live by my task list.  I try to do as much as I can, and I always make sure that we have dinner together.  Sometimes it is takeout though LOL.  What covid thought me is that noting is as urgent as we seem to think so.  Work will wait for me. :)

  • I think planning a day to intentionally unplug is a great habit!  Let extended family know your day "offline" and then throw your devise is a drawer.  what freedom!!

  • It is definitely a common negative aspect I have noticed in the industry. However, time management is my best friend when it comes to setting dedicated time for family and friends. A well-structured business with set work hours will go a long way. As a business owner, I used to believe I had to do everything myself. Over time, I’ve learned that managing the workload and trusting others is what allows me to be present for the people who matter most—my family.
