Hey, how's it going? You can absolutely bypass the whole Google Tag headache. A lot of service businesses are moving away from them because the setup is a total frustration and it's complete overkill for what we actually need to see.
If your platform is locked down or you just don't want to deal with Google's mess, here are the two easiest ways to get your numbers:
- Plausible or Fathom Analytics: These are simple, lightweight alternatives. Instead of a massive tag manager, you just paste one tiny, single line of code into your website's header and you're done. It gives you a clean, one-page dashboard with just the numbers that matter—like how many people showed up, where they came from, and what pages they clicked—without dragging down your site speed.
- Your Web Hosting Server Logs: If you literally cannot add any tracking code to the site at all, log into your website hosting account (GoDaddy, HostGator, cPanel, etc.). Your server automatically tracks every single click in the background anyway. Look for a free, built-in tool called Awstats. It will show you your traffic numbers for free without touching a single piece of website code.
If you don't have the ability or the desire to mess around with Google Tags, those two options will give you the exact visibility you need without the hassle. Hope the relieves your frustration!!!
