AI in the Field: How are you actually using AI for daily operations?

Hey everyone,

We’ve all heard the buzz about AI over the last couple of years, but I’m curious about the practical, boots-on-the-ground reality.

Instead of just using it to write a quick email or a social media post, I’m interested in how home service pros are using AI to streamline actual day-to-day operations.

If you've started bringing AI into your workflow, I’d love to hear how it's going:

  • Customer Communication: Are any of you using AI tools to help analyze customer feedback, summarize long email chains, or draft tricky responses to difficult client situations?
  • Training & SOPs: Have you used AI to help build out standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety checklists, or training guides for your team based on your own notes?
  • Admin & Brainstorming: How are you using it behind the scenes to help organize your schedule, plan out your slow season, or brainstorm business goals?

If you haven’t touched AI yet because it feels like overkill for a field service business, I'd love to hear that perspective too! What's the biggest roadblock keeping you from trying it out?

Why this style works for an AI post:

  • It avoids the "tech-bro" trap: It doesn't use heavy tech jargon, keeping it accessible for everyday business owners.
  • It invites both sides: By asking why people aren't using it yet, you ensure the thread doesn't become a ghost town if only a few members have adopted the tech.

The hilarity of including AI's comment on the effectiveness of the post you created with AI about AI isn't lost on me. I've read lots of your posts and love your input, so please tell that this was indeed intentional.

  • AI seems complicated for the big tasks, I can do little things on there but I am trying to get it to answer my calls and take messages. People say it can do it so I am going to find out and see If I can implement it.

That is a honest take on the new technology.  Just remember you have to monitor and double check it, it is not human and it does make mistakes. Hopefully you can implement into your process!  Good luck
