Force Fleet and Ply Applications

We are a commercial landscape maintenance and landscape construction contractor in Las Vegas, Nevada and are looking at application options to improve inventory management and fleet tracking and management. We have had various versions over the years with limited success, so I wanted to see if anyone has enrolled either and/or both Force Fleet and the Ply applications within Jobber?

If so, can you share your experiences, good or bad?

Also, if you enrolled either, what do you like about them and is there anything you would you do differently?

Thanks so much for the offer to help, truly appreciated. I'd still like to gain some feedback from users of Ply, first, since I think that will be critical information for us to move forward.

I already know the setup commitment on our end will be needed for any inventory management software we elect to enroll; however, the Ply/Jobber integration is intriguing, because it seems like it may eliminate some steps in our processes, which is more critical for us, since the timeline from training my Teams to compliance in execution can be a much longer lead time without an integration.

Thank you again, your feedback has been helpful... Have a great weekend!

  • I think your approach makes sense. After investing in systems that didn't deliver the expected results, measuring the cost versus the actual time and money saved is important. I'd also consider how much employee training is required before the system becomes useful. A successful integration should simplify operations rather than create more work.

  • With Ply I'd test the crew side first. if material leaves a truck and nobody records it on the visit, the inventory count will drift pretty fast and soon nobody trusts it. If a supplier delivers short or sends the wrong quantity and nobody catches it on arrival the stock count is wrong from day one. We built checks that compare supplier confirmations with the purchase order for quantity price and delivery timing, then compare the invoice with what was actually received. Send me one of your jobs and I can show you how those checks would handle the purchasing side.

Thank you for the feedback on this. We haven't engaged it yet, just trying to do some due diligence prior to commitment. If we opt to run it, we will likely run our supply warehouse first and roll out to the field, after. I am just wary, since I have spent thousands of dollars in the past, rolling out other inventory management systems, only to find that they fall dramatically short. If we engage Ply, I am just trying to figure out the cost/benefit.

Overall, are you happy with the outcomes, minus the workarounds? If so, is it saving you money or do you think it's more of break even or loss?

We haven't run Ply ourselves, so I don't have a savings number from it. Before committing, I'd compare what you bought from suppliers over the last few months with what was charged or costed to jobs. That monthly gap is roughly the most an inventory system could win back. If it's less than the subscription and the crew time needed to record usage, it will likely be break even or a loss. Starting in the warehouse makes sense because receiving is in one place and easier to measure. I can pull that rough monthly number read only from your supplier bills and two Jobber reports. Send them privately if you want us to work it out.

I've had really good support coming from Motive. The thing i didn't like about Force Fleet is when I talked to them, they didn't have a camera that looked in to the cab of the vehicle. That's something that's really important to me so that's why I found motive. Motive's dashboard is a little much and hard to navigate but there are a lot of ways to customize it for your own use so overall I think it's a win.

Thanks very much for the feedback, good to know on the interior dashcam, that's really important to me as well. I don't see Motive on their integrations side, so I assume it doesn't integrate with Jobber.

We're looking at other providers as well, such as Samsara and GeoTab. I went to fleet tradeshow earlier in the year, and GeoTab's functionality was incredible and a far cry from what they used to have years ago. We used them in the early days and they were just average, then, but it seems like they have a pretty robust interface, today.

Thanks again! have a great week!

Force Fleet Tracking and Ply both integrate directly with Jobber, but they serve two distinct operational functions.

Force Fleet Tracking integrates with Jobber on Connect and Grow plans in the US. It uses plug-and-play OBD-II tracking devices that connect to vehicle diagnostic ports. Once connected, it displays live vehicle locations, speed, fuel levels, and battery health directly on your Jobber dispatch map and schedule. It also syncs with Jobber’s "On My Way" text notifications, sending clients a live tracking link to see arrival progress. The hardware tracks OBD-equipped motor vehicles rather than unpowered equipment, trailers, or handheld tools.

Ply integrates with Jobber on Core, Connect, and Grow plans using real-time webhooks. When a job is scheduled in Jobber, job details, client information, and custom fields automatically sync to Ply. You can view material details, pricing, and stock levels inside Jobber and reserve inventory when booking a job. Ply's dedicated platform manages mobile barcode scanning, truck stock tracking, automated supplier purchase orders, and min/max reorder thresholds. Material usage and purchasing records logged in Ply feed back into Jobber jobs for job costing.

Choosing between them depends on whether your immediate focus is fleet location tracking and arrival notifications, or managing inventory stock and material purchasing across your jobs.

Thank you, Travis, I appreciate your response.

We are considering both products as add-ons, since those items are high focus for us as an organization. We recently attended the JobberNow conference and have received a lot of information on Ply but not yet made any contact with Fleet Force, since I am trying to get ahead of things with some market feedback before pursuing anything further.

Definitely aware of the integrations, which is why I was trying to look deeper into those products versus others. Unfortunately for us, in the last 20 years of business, I have used various applications for both fleet management and inventory, but the cost benefit was usually not there, so I was hoping some information on this forum might guide us as to whether we should consider those integrations or outsource to different providers.

Thanks again and have a great week!
