Can I apply different GST and PST rates to individual line items in Jobber quotes?

Maybe this is just a regional issue, but in our area, we have provincial sales tax (PST) and federal sales tax (GST) and some items are subject to one and others are subject to both taxes.

Is there a way to select the tax rate for each line item rather than for the entire quote?

At this point the only work-around I have is to create 2 quotes for the same job with different tax rates so I can get the taxes right.  It seems cumbersome and unprofessional.

I've also tried calculating the tax(es) manually and entering it as a separate line item(s). But I don't like how this looks either and it is difficult if I want to make any changes.

What other options are there?

    Hi LukeSalmonArm Thanks for the question. That is a really good call out. Jobber has the option for Tax Exempt on line items but not the ability to choose specific taxes. One of our Success representatives will follow up shortly to better understand the impact to share with the team.

    Has there been any update in this area? We have the same problem, and I am not seeing how to adjust the tax rate on certain line items.

    Hi,

    We have the same issue.

    Does Jobber allow me to apply 5% GST to labour charges and 12% GST + PST to parts? Since we are in British Columbia, Canada, we have two different tax rates that need to be applied separately.

     

    I thought Jobber is a company base on Canada?

      Hi Nano-Repair,

      No, sadly Jobber hasn't provided a good solution for taxation of individual line items.  It's one tax code per quote.  In general, we've dealt with this by providing separate quotes for installation/service jobs and 'supply-only' jobs.  It can be cumbersome and confusing for customers, but thankfully, it seems to be coming up less often for us lately.  In our business, we don't get a lot of quotes where we have to quote both types of work for the same project - usually one or the other.  I'm hopeful that some day Jobber will update with an option to apply different tax codes to each line item in a quote...but nothing so far.  Maybe if we keep talking about it enough, they will have to consider it??
