We Need a Catalog to Build Estimates ๐Ÿ“—

๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ”ฅWe need a catalog ๐Ÿ“—!

The items in the catalog help with building out an estimate.  These items are the nuts and bolts of the products and services.  Examples of catalog items are materials, permits, labor, subs, and anything else you need to complete a job. The ability to add images to the item would be a plus!

Creating an Item in the Catalog;

Item Name; Description for customer (can be toggled on to let customer see or turned off); Sku Number; Part Number; Quantity; Unit (Each, Feet, Gallon); Cost Code; Type; Unit Cost; Extended Cost (Calculated After you input the qty);  Unit Price; Extended Price (Calculated after you input the qty with selected Markup or Margin); Markup; Margin; Taxable y/n; Internal Notes; Image of item

๐Ÿ˜ฎCurrently, we build estimates outside of Jobber.  Once we know the prices, we create the estimate in Jobber and send it to the customer.

It would be nice to create an estimate in Jobber and, behind the scenes, see the prices, quantities, and markups of items we picked from the catalog to determine the estimated amount.

Once the job is complete, adjusting the actual item's prices or quantities would be super cool to see how the final numbers compare to the estimated cost.

Is there anyone else out there who would benefit from a catalog?

  • Thanks for your post. My first reply here. I had thought of posting a new topic, but found yours! I am blurry about what you're talking about with a "catalog", but sure as heck know that having Estimates, as well as Quotes would be a great product offering. I made the mistake of sending a Quote to a customer, the job got approved, but we wound up having to spend extra time, and got **bleep** out of several hundred dollars because the quote is a solid price, and what I should have sent was an Estimate. Jobber needs someplace for us to do Estimates!!!

  • Yes i can see where that woukd be a tremendous help and a great tool to have

  • This is exactly what we could do in our previous CRM

    Quotes could be built as line items but then we could choose to hide these items on the customer facing quote as well as prices etc

    Helps so much with building a quote and then also creating a pick list once the quote is accepted

    A flat rate price book would also be amazing

  • I am open to discussing this further with a product Dev member!  Just let me know how or what we need to do to get that accomplished.

    Hello Jessica!

    I can imagine many Jobber customers would benefit from a similar feature to categorize their Product and Service lists. I recommend reaching out to our Support Team to see if we can find a workaround, as well as gather more feedback so we can submit your feature request to our Product Development team.

    We appreciate the feedback as it helps us to continue to improve, thank you for sharing!
