What strategies are working best for electrical contractors to get more jobs?

Anyone else struggling to keep work flowing consistently lately? We do residential and commercial electrical work along with plumbing services, and it feels like leads have slowed down compared to what they used to be.

I’ve been trying different things like Facebook posts, local networking, follow-ups, and reaching out to contractors, but I’m always looking for better ways to keep the schedule full.

What’s been working best for you guys lately to bring in more jobs?

  • Facebook ads?
  • Google ads?
  • Yard signs?
  • Realtor/property manager connections?
  • General contractors?
  • Referral programs?

Just trying to learn what’s actually working in today’s market. Any advice is appreciated.

  • It has been slow, I have been trying to connect with more property managers and the General contractors I do work with have them refer me to other General contractors.

  • While my area of work is residential, and potentially commercial, house cleaning it can definitely be a struggle in that aspect for me as well. What has helped me lately is word of mouth that came after some consistency. However, I feel your bullet points are ideas that should not be slept on. For myself, my next step is creating digital business cards and sharing that with a friend of mine that works in real estate. You seem motivated so I'm confident you will see your efforts having progress sooner than you expect.

  • We are trying out YELP's program again.   For $1K/ month we received under 7 calls and converted one of them.  That sale was $5K, but the jury is out if this is how we want to continue.  We are also networking at Chambers and in an A.M. business networking group, making social media content, boosting some social media content, putting content on google, blogging, putting up door hangers.  The business networking group brings in at least one lead a month right now.  But this is S.L.O.W.   Networking with businesses is good.  Everyone is slow right now, but they will refer to us when they come across a lead.

  • I am an Electrical Contractor who does residential and light commercial projects. Our focus of service though had us looking for different opportunities, so I printed off a list of local Retirement homes and nursing centers (medical facilities that tend to have service needs) and introduced myself with a business card. I also did the same for Property Management Companies. So far its been working out really well. It also keeps us more local on projects and creates more contacts.

  • We are an electrical contractor in Colorado and leads have slowed a lot on Google-we're a small company of 12, minus 3 admin we have 9 total techs. The one thing that is really really helping my residential department is Thumbtack. There is a lot on there honestly. Google Ads, Facebook Ads, they haven't been as great as thumbtack honestly.

On the commercial side we are stacked on jobs that we have been bidding on.
