New Schedule

Has anyone tried Jobber's new schedule?

I assign a color to each of my staff so when looking at the schedule I know exactly who has been assigned.  With the new schedule when you complete a job, task, or request it removes the color, making all completed jobs, tasks, or requests greyed out.  Now if I have to go back & check who was assigned, which I often have to do on payroll days, I have to click on the event to see those details.  Plus it is just a very ugly and boring schedule to view.

According to Jobber's help topic on the New Schedule they state they are introducing a new schedule to make managing your calendar faster, clearer, and more efficient. With fewer clicks, less clutter, and smarter tools, scheduling and tracking jobs is easier than ever.

For me and my business I have to disagree with that statement, especially with the statement few clicks!

Would love to hear others opinions!

  • Hi LynnG ! Cam from Jobber Product Marketing here 👋 Thanks for trying out the new schedule! We’re working on an update that’ll let you choose how completed calendar items are styled—either grayed out or struck through while keeping their assigned color. This will be coming sometime in Q4, so keep an eye out!

We’re continuing to improve the new schedule and actively listening to feedback like yours to make it even better, so please keep sharing your thoughts! Is there anything else you think could be improved?

    Hi   Cam

On formatting Notes: that;s a helpful suggestion.  To give our team more insight into why this would be valuable for you, could you share what you'd want to highlight with formatting?  Knowing the 'why' helps us assess the best way to support your workflow.

We use notes on every job. They are added at request stage and the Surveyor Notes are attached up to Quote stage. this one is used solely by management and scheduling..... this includes details like - how many man days,  TPO information, what machinery will be needed on site etc.

We also add another note that is for the operatives, again this is added at request stage and goes through to invoice - this gives them information, like who the surveyor was so that if they have any questions they know who to contact.  Also where to tip any waste as it is not always efficient to run back to the yard to tip.  etc.

At the moment we cut and paste the question form at request stage and it is completed as we go through the processes but it is not always easy to read and see the details as they are always in the same writing and colour,  especially in bright conditions.

If we were able to change the main wording into bold or another colour - this would make it a lot easier to see on a phone screen as there would be a differentiation.   If this was in form style, we would be able to use drop down menus for most of the questions and that would be a big bonus.....

Don't worry about the other issue - we have sorted our own way of grouping the requests/jobs/tasks etc.

Thank you for looking into this for us.

I have been using Jobber for over 2 years now and have really appreciated the system.I’ve been using Jobber for over two years now and have really appreciated the system.  However, I wanted to share some feedback about the new schedule layout, as i find the previous version much more user-friendly.

In the old schedule, I could easily distinguish between requests for quotes, jobs, reminders, staff training and holidays using colour-coding and specific works.  The new version feels quite bland - the days don't stand out clearly, and past days are darkened, which removed the helpful colour differentiation.  You now cannot scroll in the month view to the first week of the following month.

    I've also noticed that:

    • The week view no longer fits entirely across my laptop screen (Mon-Sat is visible but i need to scroll to see Sunday)
    • Job titles appear too small, so its easy to miss important details in bookings
    • Everything is time-based now, which makes it hard to separate different types of calendar items.  It would be useful if we were able to group these together

Beyond the calendar, I'd love to see some attention given to features that would really improve workflow - such as

    • The ability to search quotes by address or client name, not just by quote number
    • The ability to format text in Notes (eg change font colour or style) to highlight key information

Thank you for reading this and I hope it helps shape further improvements.

      Hi JHTS!

Thanks so much for taking the time to share this! The level of detail you included helps us understand exactly what you need and how the new layout is impacting your day-to-day. We really appreciate you calling out specific examples, and we’ll be sure to pass this along to our product team as they continue improving the New Schedule!

A couple notes and follow-ups that might help in the meantime:

      • Past days are darkened: We’ve recently released an update that lets you choose how completed appointments appear. What you’re describing is the new Grayed-out style, but you can switch back to a Strikethrough style to keep the color differentiation on your calendar. On the New Schedule, go to More > Schedule Settings and you’ll see this as an option.
      • Overlapping appointments: Besides that, you can now choose how overlapping appointments appear (either Nested or Stacked) in those same Schedule Settings.

And a couple quick questions so we can understand your feedback a bit better:

      • When you say “everything is time-based now”, can you share a bit more about what you mean?
      • On formatting Notes: that’s a helpful suggestion. To give our team more insight into why this would be valuable for you, could you share what you’d want to highlight with formatting? Knowing the “why” helps us assess the best way to support your workflow.

      Thanks!
